Sports Grounds Safety Authority
Posted by SGSA | Filed under News
The Sports Grounds Safety Authority (SGSA) was established through the Sports Grounds Safety Authority Act 2011, which received Royal Assent in July 2011 and commenced on 1 November 2011. The SGSA’s mission is to help to ensure safety for all spectators at sports grounds and the Act made provision for an expanded remit to enable us to provide advice and guidance to sports outside football and to countries outside England and Wales. We will continue to work in partnership with, and deliver our statutory functions in relation to, football.
The SGSA will act as an authority on all matters relating to sports grounds safety, and offer knowledge and advice on the application of Sports Grounds Safety publications (including the Green Guide and Safety Management). We want to help to create the conditions for safe and enjoyable experiences for spectators at sports grounds around the world. We will provide trusted advice and guidance and use our experience and commitment to drive continuous improvement, and we will work with others to champion innovation in the structures and systems for safety management.
