Working Towards 2012

Since February 2010 staff from the SGSA (formerly the FLA) have been working on secondment at the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG). They have assisted LOCOG in securing safety certificates and premises licences for both competition and non competition venues.
SGSA staff have also worked with LOCOG to develop safety management plans for the venues. Each competition venue will have an operation manual which will be developed within the guidelines of the Green Guide and Safety Management Guide. The operation manuals will demonstrate LOCOG's commitment to both public safety and to meeting the safety objectives of their premises licences.
LOCOG's operational plans will incorporate existing safety arrangements at venues where management plans are already in place. SGSA staff have attended the 2011 test events held as part of the LOCOG testing and readiness programme as observers or as operational staff.
LOCOG’s safety management submissions to the local authorities for each venue are the largest single set of applications that will be undertaken simultaneously.
