Our New Inspector

An image of our new Inspector Sue Storey.

Sue Storey joins the SGSA as our new Inspector covering football clubs in the Humberside, North-East, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and East Anglia areas as well as leading on any cricket related work.

She comes with 20 years experience as a senior local authority manager from Nottinghamshire County Council including 11 years in the sports ground safety area.

Stadium Safety

The Sports Grounds Safety Authority recently met a delegation from the Chilean Ministry of the Interior and Public Safety and Carabineros de Chile.

The delegation were keen to observe the British approach to stadium safety and the prevention of disorder at football matches.

The visit was organised by the British Embassy, in conjunction with the UK Football Policing Unit, a division of the police force overseen by the Home Office.

Injury Statistics

The SGSA annually collates and publishes the number of reported injuries at football grounds in England and Wales. Data is requested from all Premier League and Football League clubs plus Wembley and the Millennium Stadium and includes all competitive league and cup games.

Accessible Stadia

SGSA inspector Ian Smith pictured alongside fellow panelists at the Accessible Stadia Solutions conference.

On 24 September 2011, Sports Grounds Safety Authority (SGSA) Inspector Ian Smith joined a panel of experts in a discussion of ‘Accessible Stadia Solutions’ at Wembley Stadium, London. The session was part of the first ever conference of the Centre for Access to Football in Europe (CAFE), with a theme of 'Total Football, Total Access'. The aim was to highlight the importance of good access to stadiums for football fans, and over 170 delegates from across Europe attended.
